Keeping Pace with Low Carbon Frontiers, Delivering with Excellence – GDE’s Microalgae Carbon Sequestration Technology Demonstration Project Receives Client Commendation Edit Date:2026/06/18
Recently, the Guangdong Energy Microalgae CO₂ Capture, Conversion and Utilisation Demonstration Project for Thermal Power Units, undertaken by GDE, achieved a major milestone. With outstanding technological innovation, professional and efficient performance, and meticulous service quality, the project team earned high praise from the client, building a strong industry reputation through craftsmanship.
As a cutting edge and innovative CUSS technology demonstration project of Guangdong Energy Group, this project serves as the core launch benchmark in the Jinyutan Area of Shanwei Honghai Bay. The project innovatively applies microalgae carbon sequestration technology, using photosynthesis of microalgae to absorb CO₂ emitted from thermal power units, achieving carbon emission reduction and value added resource utilisation. It produces algal liquid, algal powder, and high value added active substances, fully aligning with China’s “dual carbon” goals and the regional green low carbon industry development plan. At the same time, the design integrates artistic aesthetics with functional practicality, cleverly incorporating elements such as a four leaf clover shape and the brand identity of Guangdong Energy Group. The spatial layout, with a large circular ring at the centre and individual buildings converging inward, deeply interprets the planning and design concept of “ecological core, converging ring”, striving to create a landmark of land art in Honghai Bay.
This project is a pioneering exploration in the industry, characterised by strong technological innovation, high implementation difficulty, extensive coordination interfaces, and a tight construction schedule, imposing extremely high demands on technical solution optimisation, whole process control, and efficient collaborative delivery. Faced with these challenges, GDE leveraged its deep engineering expertise and promptly established a dedicated project task force. With clear project objectives, phased construction schedules, and a well defined responsibility system, the team advanced the project with high quality and efficiency. During the scheme optimisation phase, in order to balance architectural form, technical feasibility, and cost control, the team worked closely with the lead unit, refining the design through more than ten rounds of comparative optimisation. At critical stages including scheme adjustments, drawing issuance, and technical briefings, the team ensured schedule adherence, quality assurance, and cost control, efficiently completing full process technical services.
In recent years, while continuously consolidating its traditional strengths in sugar and alcohol, food and beverage, and environmental energy sectors, GDE has actively expanded into emerging frontiers such as green manufacturing, new energy, and new materials. The company insists on integrating technology R&D with engineering practice, accelerating the commercialisation of cutting edge achievements. With solid technical strength, efficient delivery capability, and supreme service quality, GDE is continually extending its business boundaries and enriching its service portfolio. This microalgae carbon sequestration demonstration project not only stands as another benchmark for GDE’s deep engagement in this frontier technology and its presence in the carbon capture and utilisation sector, but also provides strong support for the company’s sustained expansion and deepened development in the green low carbon industry.
